Day 1

Fes Guided Medina Tour

Your adventure begins the moment we pick you up from the airport or your riad to introduce you to your personal guide. Today, you will uncover the secrets of the ancient walled city. You will wander through the famous Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), admire the beautiful woodwork at the Nejjarine Fountain, and visit the historic Chouara Tanneries. To end a wonderful first day, we will climb to a hilltop fortress to enjoy the stunning sunset over the rooftops before checking into your cozy riad.

Fes to Merzouga via the Middle Atlas Mountains

We will depart early from Fes and travel south toward Ifrane, known for its alpine charm. Next, we stop in the ancient cedar forests of Azrou to look for the friendly wild monkeys. After a relaxing lunch break in the mountain town of Midelt, we wind down the road into the stunning, palm-filled Ziz Valley oasis. By late afternoon, we will reach the edge of the Sahara in Merzouga. There, we will switch to camels for a peaceful trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will end our evening with an authentic dinner and live drum music at a luxury desert camp.

Exploring the Merzouga Desert Region

Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the sand dunes. Today, we will discover the secrets of the Sahara. We will visit the village of Khamlia, where you can listen to soul-stirring traditional Gnawa music and meet nomadic families living in traditional tents. You will also have the opportunity to explore local palm groves. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at a desert lodge, where you can opt for sandboarding or a thrilling 4×4 dune safari.

After breakfast, we will head west toward Erfoud, a town famous around the world for its ancient fossil workshops. After lunch, we will drive deeper into the Dades Valley to marvel at the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. We will then spend a restful night in a traditional kasbah-style riad.

Today, we will follow the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We will cross the Skoura Oasis and visit the historic Kasbah Amridil. The highlight of the afternoon will be a walk through Ait Benhaddou, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been featured in films such as Gladiator. Finally, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi N’Tichka Pass and arrive in the lively city of Marrakech, where we will spend the night.
