After breakfast, you will meet your official local guide for an in-depth exploration of the cultural heart of Morocco. Wander through the bustling, narrow alleys of the world’s oldest medina, visiting iconic landmarks such as the leather tanneries, the stunning Al Quaraouiyine University, and the vibrant local souks.
Journey to the Sahara via the Middle Atlas Mountains
Today, we will leave the bustling city behind and travel south into the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will stop in Ifrane, beautifully designed in an alpine style, before taking a walk through the cedar forests of Azrou in search of wild Barbary macaques. After passing through the lush, palm-filled Ziz Valley, we will arrive at the edge of the Merzouga Desert in the evening.
Sahara Desert Discovery & Camel Trek
Today, we will explore the desert’s hidden gems. First, we will visit a nomadic family to learn about their resilient way of life. Then, we will head to the village of Khamlia to experience the rhythmic music of the Gnawa people. In the late afternoon, your camel will take you across the golden dunes at sunset.
Tonight, you will stay in a traditional desert camp where you can enjoy a campfire dinner accompanied by drum music and an authentic Ahidous dance, which is traditionally performed in two lines — one for men and one for women.
Merzouga to the Dades Valley via the Todra Gorges
Wake up early to witness the unforgettable desert sunrise, then ride your camel back to the main road. Next, we will continue our journey to the spectacular Todra Gorges, a massive canyon with towering limestone walls, which are perfect for a scenic walk. Later, we will drive into the Dades Valley, where we will have dinner and spend the night surrounded by unique rock formations.
Dades Valley, Ait Benhaddou and Marrakech
We will travel through the fragrant Valley of Roses and Ouarzazate, known as the ‘Hollywood of Africa’, before arriving at the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. After exploring this magnificent clay fortress, we begin our ascent over the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi N’Tichka Pass. We arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech by late afternoon.
Discovering the Heart of Marrakech
Join your official local guide for a comprehensive tour of the Red City. You will visit the beautifully tiled Bahia Palace, admire the towering Koutoubia Mosque, and explore the peaceful Majorelle Garden. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the colourful souks and experience the lively atmosphere of the famous Jemaa el-Fna square.
Marrakech to the Coastal Charm of Essaouira
We leave the heat of the city behind and travel west to the breezy Atlantic coast. Upon arriving in Essaouira, you will have plenty of time to stroll through the historic whitewashed medina, watch the blue fishing boats in the lively Mogador port, and enjoy the incredibly fresh seafood by the ocean.
Essaouira to the modern metropolis of Casablanca
Today, we will drive north. To ensure a smooth, comfortable, and efficient journey, we will take the direct motorway to Casablanca. Once there, you will visit the awe-inspiring Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world and situated right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, before enjoying an evening stroll along the lively Corniche.
Casablanca to Tangier via Rabat
Today, we will take a short drive to Rabat, the elegant capital of Morocco. Here, we will visit the impressive Hassan Tower and the beautiful Kasbah of the Udayas. In the afternoon, we will continue along the coast to the cosmopolitan city of Tangier. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the Caves of Hercules and Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean meet.
Tangier to Chefchaouen in the Blue Mountains
Spend the morning exploring the vibrant medina and Kasbah Museum in Tangier. By midday, we will drive into the lush Rif Mountains towards Chefchaouen. You will arrive with plenty of time to check into your riad and enjoy a relaxing evening stroll through its famously tranquil, blue-washed streets.
Guided Exploration of the Blue Pearl
Today, you will enjoy a guided tour of Chefchaouen’s most captivating sights. After breakfast, a local guide will lead you through the vibrant, blue-washed labyrinth of the medina. You will start at the bustling Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the heart of the city, which is flanked by the Grand Mosque and the 15^(th)-century Kasbah.
You will then step inside the Kasbah to visit its ethnographic museum and the peaceful Andalusian gardens. Next, we will walk alongside the Ras El Ma riverbed, where you can observe the traditional methods of weaving and washing wool used by the locals. In the afternoon, we will take a guided hike up to the Spanish Mosque to enjoy the breathtaking, panoramic sunset view over the entire blue city.
Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis and Meknes
Today, we leave the mountains behind and travel back in time to the remarkably well-preserved ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. After exploring the mosaics, we take a short drive to the imperial city of Meknes to marvel at the impressive Bab Mansour gate. By late afternoon, we will have come full circle and arrived back in Fes.
