Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Discovering the Ancient Fes Medina

Our adventure begins with a deep dive into the history of Morocco’s cultural capital. After a delicious breakfast, a local expert guide will lead you on a fascinating walking tour through the old medina’s thousands of narrow, winding alleys.

As you visit the famous traditional tanneries with their colorful dye pits, historic Islamic schools, and bustling souks filled with handmade crafts, you will feel like you have traveled back in time. You will then relax in a beautiful local riad in the heart of the city for your first night.

Day 2

The Switzerland of Morocco and the Ziz Valley

Today, we will leave the bustling city behind and head south toward the desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, a pristine green town reminiscent of a Swiss alpine village. Next, we will stop in the cedar forest near Azrou to photograph the friendly wild monkeys living in the trees.

As our seven-day tour from Fes via Merzouga continues south, the landscape shifts from lush, green mountains to the serene, palm-filled oasis of the Ziz Valley. By late afternoon, we will arrive in the desert region where you will relax in a comfortable hotel for the night.

Day 3

Nomads, Gnawa Music, and the Sahara Dunes

Today, we will immerse ourselves in the magic of the Sahara. We will visit a local nomadic family, share a cup of fresh mint tea, and learn about their traditional way of life. Then, we will visit the village of Khamlia, where we will enjoy spiritual Gnawa music performed by local musicians. In the late afternoon, we will trade our vehicle for a peaceful camel trek. Your camel will carry you across the golden sands just in time for a spectacular sunset. Then, you will enjoy a warm dinner and drumming around the campfire at your beautiful desert camp.

Day 4

The Deep Canyons of the Todra and Dades Valleys

We highly recommend waking up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the camp, ride your camel back to the edge of the desert to meet your driver. Then we will hit the road toward the massive Todra Gorges, flanked by towering rock walls, perfect for a short, peaceful walk by the river. Later, we will drive into the beautiful Dades Valley, which is famous for its unique rock formations known as “monkey fingers.” We will spend the night there.

Day 5

The Route of a Thousand Kasbahs

Today, we will follow the famous Kasbah Route, passing many beautiful sandstone fortresses along the way. We will drive through the fragrant Valley of Roses, where locals distill sweet-smelling rosewater and perfumes. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” There, you can visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah or explore the famous film studios where epic movies were shot. We will spend the night at a comfortable local hotel.

Day 6

Crossing the High Atlas Mountains to the Red City

We start the day with a visit to one of the most famous kasbahs in Morocco: Ait Benhaddou. This massive, ancient, clay-built city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has served as the backdrop for films such as Gladiator. After exploring its historic streets and climbing to the top for a magnificent view, we begin our journey over the High Atlas Mountains.

We will drive through the impressive Tizi N’Tichka Pass and stop to admire the small Berber villages clinging to the steep mountainsides. By late afternoon, we will arrive in Marrakech and drop you off at your riad.

Day 7

The Magic of Marrakech

On your last day, a local guide will show you the vibrant beauty of Marrakech. You will walk through the stunning Bahia Palace and admire the imposing Koutoubia Mosque. You will also explore the bright, peaceful Majorelle Garden, a striking blue-and-green oasis.

No visit is complete without getting lost in the exciting souks, where you can shop for colorful souvenirs and spices. Your wonderful Moroccan journey will conclude in the afternoon, leaving you with memories to last a lifetime.
