Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Over the Mountains to the Valley of Roses

Our journey begins in Marrakech, from which we will head towards the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. We will drive up the winding roads of the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, stopping to take in the mesmerizing views. Our first major stop is Ait Benhaddou, a vast adobe city and famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. After exploring its historic streets, we will continue to Ouarzazate to visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah.

After enjoying a tasty lunch, we will drive through the fragrant Valley of Roses and the lush Skoura palm grove before arriving at the Dades Gorges. There, you can relax for the night in a beautiful local riad.

Day 2

Deep Canyons and the Road to the Sahara

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we set out to explore more of the stunning Dades Valley. First, we traveled to Tinghir and took a peaceful walk through the Todra Gorges, where soaring rock walls reach high into the sky. Then, we will drive to Erfoud, a town famous for its stunning marine fossils embedded in black stone.

There, we will visit a local workshop to see how these ancient treasures are polished. Finally, the landscape turns to dry sand as we arrive in Merzouga. Tonight, you will stay in a comfortable hotel right on the edge of the desert to rest up for tomorrow.

Day 3

Desert Villages and the Golden Sand

Today, we will explore the culture and landscapes surrounding the Sahara Desert. We will explore the flat, rocky desert trails surrounding massive dunes in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle. Instead of driving directly over the sand, we will stick to the surrounding plains. This will allow for a smooth ride as we visit a local nomadic family and share a traditional lunch.

We will also visit a Gnawa village to experience their distinctive, rhythmic music. In the late afternoon, your camel guide will be waiting for you. You will then ride your camel across the dunes to reach your traditional desert camp. There, a warm dinner and a night under the stars will await you.

Day 4

Cedar Forests and the Journey to Fez

Wake up early to see the stunning desert sunrise. Then, ride your camel back to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower. Afterwards, we will say goodbye to the Sahara and begin our scenic drive north. We will travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in the cool, green cedar forests of Azrou, where you may see some friendly wild monkeys.

We will also pass through Ifrane, a charming town reminiscent of a small Swiss ski resort. In the afternoon, we will arrive in the historic city of Fes, where you will check into your hotel for the night.

Day 5

Discovering the Ancient Heart of Fes

Get ready to step back in time! After breakfast, a local expert guide will lead you on a walking tour of the Fes medina. You will explore a maze of narrow alleys and visit the old Jewish Quarter, the beautiful gates of the Royal Palace, and the world-famous tanneries, where leather is still dyed by hand.

You will also visit the Quaraouine Mosque, said to be the world’s oldest university. After lunch, we will drive to a high viewpoint to take in the entire city below before returning to your riad for dinner.

Day 6

Roman Ruins and the Imperial Cities

Today, we will leave Fez and travel to Volubilis. There, you will walk through incredibly well-preserved ancient Roman ruins and admire beautiful mosaic floors. Then, we will take a short drive to Meknes, another one of Morocco’s imperial cities.

After a guided tour of the Meknes medina and its enormous historical gates, we will drive to Rabat, Morocco’s modern capital. There, we will visit the beautiful Mausoleum of Hassan II before driving down the coast to Casablanca, where you will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 7

The Hassan II Mosque and Back to the Red City

On our last day, we took a guided tour of the famous Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. This stunning architectural masterpiece sits right on the edge of the ocean and is a prime example of Moroccan art. After taking plenty of photos, we began driving south to return to Marrakech.

We arrived in the afternoon, when a guide accompanied us on a final walk through the lively, bustling medina. This concludes your incredible seven-day adventure across Morocco, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
