Day 1

Welcome to Marrakech & City Exploration

Our 10-day tour from Marrakech officially begins the moment we pick you up! After a comfortable transfer to your hotel or riad, you will spend the day exploring the city’s top attractions. Immerse yourself in the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, admire the imposing Koutoubia Mosque, and wander through the vibrant local markets. You will also see Guéliz, the modern part of the city, before enjoying a relaxing dinner at your hotel.

Over the High Atlas Mountains to Dades Valley

After breakfast, we leave the city behind and drive up into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the winding Tizi N’Tichka pass. We will stop to explore Aït Benhaddou, a massive, ancient clay fortress that is a UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch, we pass through Ouarzazate and the sweet-smelling Valley of Roses before arriving at the beautiful Dades Gorges, where you will spend the night in a local hotel.

Canyons, Fossils, and the Sahara Desert

Today, we will head to the spectacular Todra Gorge, where you can take a peaceful walk through the narrow limestone canyon towering above you. Then, we will drive through the lush palm trees of the Ziz Valley and stop in Erfoud to see how the locals craft beautiful items from ancient marine fossils. After a brief visit to the lively Rissani market, we will arrive in Merzouga. There, you will ride a camel into the desert at sunset, arriving at your camp for a night of traditional Berber music and a stay in a cozy tent.

Deep Desert Exploration and Nomad Culture

Wake up to a beautiful morning in the Sahara! Today, we will explore the magic of the Merzouga dunes. We’ll hop into a 4×4 vehicle and visit the village of Khamlia, which is famous for its traditional rhythmic music. You will also have the chance to meet a local nomadic family, try fun activities like sandboarding down the dunes, and enjoy another breathtaking desert sunset. Enjoy dinner and music under the stars for a second night.

Sunrise in the Dunes to the Atlas Mountains

Be sure to wake up early to watch the sunrise over the golden sand! Then, we will ride the camels back to the hotel for a refreshing shower and a hearty breakfast. Then, we will say goodbye to the desert and begin driving north through Erfoud and the scenic Ziz Valley. We will arrive in the peaceful mountain town of Midelt by late afternoon, where you will check into your hotel for the night.

Cedar Forests, Wild Monkeys, and Fes

Our journey continues north into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first major stop is the lush cedar forest near Azrou, home to friendly wild Barbary macaque monkeys that you can see and feed. Next, we will pass through Ifrane, a spotless town that resembles a Swiss ski resort. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Fes, the cultural heart of Morocco. There, you will settle into your beautiful riad.

Discovering the Ancient Heart of Fes

Get ready to step back in time! A local expert guide will lead you on an in-depth walking tour of the Fes medina. You will see incredible historical sites, such as the Nejjarine Fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, and the renowned Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque. You will also visit colorful tanneries and a ceramics cooperative, where you can observe artisans at work. You will have the afternoon free to explore before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

From Fes to the Blue Pearl of Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will leave Fes and drive up into the green Rif Mountains until we reach Chefchaouen. This peaceful town, known worldwide as the “Blue Pearl,” is famous for its blue-washed buildings and relaxed atmosphere. You will have the whole afternoon to walk through the beautiful medina, take amazing photos, and shop for local crafts before spending the night in a cozy hotel.

The Blue City to Rabat and Casablanca

We say goodbye to the blue streets and head toward the Atlantic coast. Our first stop is Rabat, the elegant capital of Morocco, where we will visit the main historical attractions, including the beautiful Hassan Tower. In the afternoon, we will continue down the coast to Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, where you will check into your hotel for the evening.

The Grand Mosque and Return to Marrakech

On our final morning together, we will visit Casablanca’s absolute highlight: the massive, oceanfront Hassan II Mosque. After admiring its incredible architecture and taking plenty of photos, we will hit the highway and drive south. We will arrive back in the Red City by the late afternoon, bringing your unforgettable Moroccan road trip to a perfect close.

The camel trek takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. It is a slow, peaceful walk across the sand, perfectly timed so you can watch a magical sunset before arriving at your camp.

No problem at all! If you prefer not to ride a camel, we include a comfortable 4×4 vehicle transfer that will take you directly through the dunes to your desert camp.

Yes! We provide sandboards for free at the camp. During your stay in Merzouga, you can grab a board and have fun sliding down the dunes near your tent.
