This journey begins in Tangier, where the Atlantic and Mediterranean meet. It takes you through the electric-blue streets of Chefchaouen and the Roman mosaics of Volubilis. Pass through the towering gates of Meknes and the medieval labyrinth of Fes before crossing cedar-covered mountains to reach the towering Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga.

 From the quiet vastness of the Sahara, the route winds through the kasbah-lined Dades Gorge and the storied village of Ait Ben Haddou. Then, it climbs the High Atlas via the Tizi N’Tichka pass. The final stretch brings you to the seafood and ocean breezes of Essaouira, followed by a sensory finale in the souks of Marrakech.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Tangier Arrival

Your grand Moroccan adventure begins when you arrive in Tangier. Our friendly driver will meet you at the airport or ferry terminal. Tangier is a unique city where the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Today, we will take it easy and explore some beautiful local spots, such as the famous Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel, where the two oceans converge. Then, you can relax at your hotel and prepare for the amazing days ahead.

 
Day 2
 

Rif Mountains and Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will leave the coast behind and drive into the green Rif Mountains. Our destination is Chefchaouen, a town famous around the world for its blue buildings, also known as the Blue Pearl. Upon arrival, you will have ample time to wander the beautiful blue streets. It’s a peaceful place, perfect for taking photos and enjoying a cup of fresh mint tea in the main square. You will then spend a quiet night in a local riad.

Day 3
 

Volubilis, Meknes, and Arrival in Fes

Today, we will say goodbye to the Blue Mountains and travel back in time. Our first stop is Volubilis, an incredible historical site full of ancient Roman ruins and beautifully preserved mosaic floors. Next, we will visit the imperial city of Meknes to see its enormous historical gates and impressive walls. In the afternoon, we will drive to Fes, the cultural heart of Morocco, where you will spend the night in a beautiful riad.

Fes — A Living Medieval City

After enjoying a delicious Moroccan breakfast, an expert local guide will meet you and reveal the secrets of the Fes medina. You will walk through the thousands of narrow alleys that comprise the oldest university city in the world. You will see the famous colorful leather tanneries, beautiful traditional schools, and bustling markets full of handmade crafts. It truly feels like stepping into a living museum.

From the Middle Atlas to the Edge of the Sahara

Today, we will begin our long journey to the Sahara. We will drive south through Ifrane, a town that looks exactly like a small Swiss village and is very clean. Next, we will stop in the Azrou cedar forest to watch the friendly wild monkeys play in the trees. Then, we will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the Ziz Valley’s deep green palm trees, finally arriving in the Merzouga region. There, you can relax in a comfortable hotel near the dunes.

Sahara Dawn & Road of a Thousand Kasbahs

Today, we will fully immerse ourselves in the magic of the desert! First, we will visit a local nomadic family and see how they live in traditional tents. Then, we will share a warm cup of tea with them. Then, we will drive to the village of Khamlia to hear the spiritual Gnawa music performed by the locals. In the late afternoon, your camel will be waiting for you. You will ride across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes just in time to watch a spectacular sunset. Then, you will arrive at your beautiful desert camp, where you can enjoy drums, traditional food, and a night under the stars.

Dades Gorge and Ouarzazate

Wake up early today to see the stunning desert sunrise over the sand dunes. After breakfast at the camp, ride your camel back to the edge of the desert. Then, hit the road again. Our destination is the Todra Gorge, a massive canyon with towering rock walls. It’s a great place to take a short, peaceful walk along the river. Later, we will drive to the Dades Valley, famous for its unique rock formations, where we will spend the night.

High Atlas Crossing to Essaouira

After breakfast, we will drive through the beautiful Dades Valley, also known as the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs,” due to the numerous ancient sand castles visible along the route. We will pass through the Valley of Roses, where locals produce sweet-smelling rosewater. Then, we will continue through the green palm groves of Skoura until we reach Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Africa.” There, you can visit the vast film studios where many famous movies have been made.

Essaouira Souks and Arrival in Marrakech

Today, we will visit the most famous kasbah in Morocco: Ait Benhaddou. This massive adobe city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that served as the setting for films such as Gladiator. After exploring its narrow, winding streets, we will begin our journey over the impressive High Atlas Mountains. We will drive through the spectacular Tizi N’Tichka Pass and stop to admire the small Berber villages along the way. We will arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Marrakech — A Sensory Finale

A local guide will show you the true beauty of Marrakech on a wonderful tour. You will delve into the rich history of the Bahia Palace and admire the imposing Koutoubia Mosque. You will also visit the serene Majorelle Garden, a beautiful blue-and-green oasis that is perfect for relaxation. You will also have time to explore the exciting souks and shop for souvenirs before ending the day at the famous, lively Jemaa el Fna Square.
